However, Bungie have stated some pretty solid reasons for the decision, as vaulting old content allows the team to focus on new content and activities and bring them to the players at an incredible place. The fact that this sort of removal of paid-content from the game has never happened before in an MMO is especially of discomfort to the fans. “Vaulting this content will allow us the space to launch The Witch Queen expansion and its new Throne World destination, as well as new features like weapon crafting, the new Legendary difficulty campaign option, the new Glaive weapon archetype, plus all the additional content we have planned for the four new Seasons to come starting in February.” Bungie explains the reason for Vaulting all of Forsaken’s content as well as Tangled Shore as follows: Many of Destiny 2’s players came to the game because of the allure of Forsaken and the sheer, undeniable quality of the campaign.įorsaken came out on 4 September 2018 and is widely regarded as perhaps the best aspect of Destiny 2 and the reason for the surge in popularity post-launch. Much like the Taken King for the original Destiny, Forsaken single-handedly corrected course for the game after a relatively shaky launch. This is especially worrying and disheartening news for players who might have only recently bough the Forsaken expansion – as the expansion can cost quite a bit by itself. Forsaken and Tangled Shore will be vaulted in February, 2022
